 Description of pictures

1.In my view, the purpose of this conversation is to update each other on what took place that day or to catch up with each other and where they are at in their lives over a coffee date. It seems like a casual conversation between two friends. The sender is the girl on the right, and the receiver is the girl on the left. The method of communication is verbal. The receiver seems to pay close attention to what the sender is saying, she is also seen to have a responsive facial expression which shows that the effectiveness of this conversation is pretty good and entertaining. 

2. The purpose of this conversation is shared humor. We can find that the sender on the left is pointing toward the phone and smiling widely at it, causing the receiver on the right to laugh at the same. He may also be pointing out something funny or pleasant on the phone. The method of communication here is non-verbal. The effectiveness of this interaction is positive as the sender has got the receiver engaged with what he had to share.

3. The conversation is taking place among five people present in the picture and its purpose appears to be a humorous interaction with colleagues or friends. The sender is the person on the extreme right and the rest four people are the receivers. The method of communication is verbal. This interaction appears to be extremely effective as the sender has acquired the utmost attention of all the receivers, and their body language also complies with the same. They all seem to be leaning toward the sender indicating an entertaining, humorous, and joyful conversation initiated by the sender.

4. The conversation taking place in this picture seems to be serious, formal, and work-related. It appears as though the sender on the right is giving his critical reviews of the receiver’s work/assignment. The receiver is seen to be carefully absorbing and processing the feedback he is receiving. The method of communication taking place is verbal. This interaction is pretty effective as the sender is appropriately conveying his views in a calm expressive manner which seems to be working on the receiver who seems to be interested in hearing all the criticism the sender has to say.

5. The conversation taking place in this picture seems to be formal and business/work related. I think the sender on the right is expressing his perspectives on a certain topic he is inclined toward and the receiver on the left seems to be amused and delighted to hear the sender’s insights. The method of communication is verbal. The interaction is pretty effective as it is clear from the receiver’s body language that he seems to be drawn to what the sender is saying. 

6. The interaction taking place in this picture looks like a serious argument. We can observe that both people are talking at the same time, hinting at the obvious overlapping that’s taking place during their conversation. Their body language indicates that they are trying to talk things through and they are both involved in this interaction equally, giving the same amount of attention to each other. The method of communication is verbal. They are both the senders and receivers. I think this interaction is extremely effective as both of them are so engrossed in trying to express their points of view.

7. The interaction taking place in this picture seems to be serious as the sender on the left is crying and the receiver is trying to console her. The sender appears to be immensely affected by something causing her to put her hands on her head and break down. The method of communication is non-verbal. The effectiveness of this conversation is minimal as the receiver is trying to give the sender some space and time to cry and calm down. Although he’s providing comfort by wrapping his arm around her back. 

8. In this interaction, the sender on the left appears to be teasing the receiver by sticking her tongue out at him. It is one of those silly, funny, and joyous conversations people have that doesn’t involve much talking. The method of communication is non-verbal. The effectiveness of this interaction is positive as the receiver is smiling back at her and slightly tilting towards her.

9. The two people seem to be enjoying each other’s humorous company. The person on the right is the sender who is probably reacting to something funny that she saw on the TV or something the receiver said. The method of communication is verbal. The interaction is pretty effective as the receiver is seen to be consciously looking to see the sender’s reaction, they’re both laughing.

10. The interaction taking place in this picture looks like gossip or as if the sender on the right is sharing her personal story and opinions with the receiver on the left. The method of communication is verbal. The sender’s hand gestures indicate that she’s trying to explain something she is not content with to the receiver who is carefully and patiently listening to her vent out. This shows the effectiveness of this communication.
